April 15, 2003 Press Release KFGI Introduces Quick and Easy Way to Recondition Worn Conveyor Side Frames Lightweight composite material dramatically increases longevity of metallic conveyor side frames DALLAS, TX—April 15, 2003. KFGI, Ltd. announced today the introduction of Shaftkeeper™ a quick, easy and inexpensive way for reconditioning and repairing conveyor side frames without replacing the entire side frame. Shaftkeeper™ is the third KFGI product introduced this year which utilizes BRANDONITE™, a new family of high-performance composite polymers. This newly patented product corrects wear and distortion upon the shaft opening of conveyor side frames which is created by the repetitive back and forth actuation of conveyor rollers. Over a period of time, this twisting action can distort the shape of the shaft opening and turn a hexagonal shaft opening into a circularly shaped opening. At this point, the shaft is free to rotate or spin within the opening creating noise, vibration, additional wear on the side frame and leads to the premature failure of the side frame and other conveyor components. "Until now, the most common solution was to replace the side frame, or worse yet, completely replace the roller conveyor system due to the damaging effects of vibration" said Carl W. Forsythe, President of KFGI, "We wanted to provide a product to the material handling community that avoids expensive, inconvenient and disruptive repair of conveyor systems." Shaftkeeper™ is patented and made of Brandonite™ high-performance composites, a durable vibration-dampening material that allows the shaft-capturing device to easily attach to the conveyor roller shaft and securely hold the shaft to the side frame. And, Shaftkeeper™ can be used on new conveyors to prevent wear or allow for improperly sized or shaped side frames and roller shafts. KFGI, Ltd. is an innovative Dallas-based applications-driven company that provides turnkey research, design and manufacturing solutions to help customers dramatically increase product performance while significantly reducing costs. KFGI holds several patents, and has several patents pending, related to composite polymer materials and specific material handling products. Contact: Carl W.
