January 23, 2003 Press Release KFGI Introduces All-Synthetic Tilt-Tray Sortation System Quietest, Most Energy Efficient Sortation System Unveiled DALLAS, TX-- January 22, 2003. Enduro STS™, a versatile tilt-tray sortation system, was unveiled today by KFGI, Ltd. (KFGI) making it the first in the industry to be made completely from Brandonite™, a new family of composite polymers. “This is a big step forward for the material handling industry,” said John Boodée, Senior Vice President of KFGI’s Material Handling Division. “Not only can we manufacture tilt-tray sorter carriages with space-age composites, but we have also developed the drive chain, tipper-arm and track completely out of synthetic materials as well. The end result is a cost-effective delivery system that is lightweight, modular, durable and quiet.” Field tests for the Enduro STS™ system are currently underway and yielding extraordinary results. The composite track, which guides these carriages, is completely modular and is specially designed to absorb sound and maintain tight spacing tolerances. The sortation system is also designed to accommodate linear-induction motors (LIM), making it a versatile product offering. “We have been extremely pleased with the performance of the entire Enduro STS™ system” said Carl W. Forsythe, President of KFGI. “For example, the tipper arm assemblies we manufacture have endured over 7 million cycles of constant use compared with half that amount with conventional metallic tipper arms.” Forsythe also noted that the specially designed track and carriages are 12-14 decibels quieter and 20 percent lighter than conventional metallic sortation systems. The end result, according to Forsythe, is that “KFGI now offers the quietest, most energy efficient tilt-tray sortation system in the industry.” The new Enduro STS™ system will be on display in KFGI’s booth at the Material Handling Industry of America’s ProMat 2003 International Exposition at Chicago’s McCormick Place from February 10-13.
